Nguyen group is interested in understanding all chemical processes and in rationally improving/optimising the application of these processes in both academia and industry. The research is highly collaborative and focuses on the interdisciplinary interfaces between Physical/Organic/Process Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. |

The current research themes are: 1. Water as a green solvent for organic syntheses of high value targets, including the rational selection of surfactants to enable reactions and product purification in water. 2. Application of AI and data science to predicting reaction outcomes in green solvents, giving confidence in switching from hazardous solvents to green alternatives without compromising yields and purity of products. 3. Application of AI and data science to circular economy challenges, such as textile recycling and metal recovery. These research themes are underpinned by our expertise in green chemistry, physical chemistry techniques, AI and machine learning, and batch/flow process design, including workup and purification, for sustainability. |
